TWO girls whose parents died in a road accident in Co Donegal almost four years ago will receive more than £500,000 in a settlement approved yesterday by the High Court.

Laura Ramsey, now aged 12, and her sister, Joanne, aged six, of Kavanagh Court, Ballymacgroatry, Co Derry, were in a three-vehicle accident at Quigley's Point, Co Donegal, on July 22nd, 1995. Mr Raymond Ramsey (32) and his wife, Michelle (29), died in the crash. Laura and Joanne were seriously injured and taken to Altnagelvin Hospital, Derry.

Legal proceedings were later issued against Dean Cassidy, Whitehouse Park, Buncrana Road, Derry, stated to be the driver of a car in the collision, and John Cassidy, the owner, of the same address.

Yesterday Mr Gilligan said £145,000 was being offered to Joanne for injuries while £110,000 was offered to Laura. A further £295,000 was being offered arising out of the parents' deaths. Mr Thomas McCann, grandfather of the children, told Mr Justice O'Donovan they were satisfied with the settlement.
