Bohemians have reduced Shelbourne's lead at the top of the eircom Premier League to five points courtesy of a stunning Ken Oman strike this evening.

Shels took to the Dalymount turf tonight looking for their 13th win of the season to go nine points clear at the top but were immediately made to work for everything by a determined Bohs side.

Ollie Cahill and Stuart Byrne both went close for Shels in the first half as did Robbie Doyle and Dave Morrison for Bohemians.

It wasn't until the 58th minute however that the tie was really lit up when Oman strode up from centre half and met the ball 30 yards from Steve Williams' goal. In search of his first goal for Bohemians, the 21 year old arrowed a right footed shot into the top corner to give the homeside the lead.

Glen Crowe went close again for Bohs 12 minutes from the end before Stephen Geoghegan pulled a great save from Seamus Kelly with Shelbourne's only real chance of the second half.

With the two due to meet in the league in two weeks time at Tolka Park, Oman's timely intervention could yet prove decisive in the race for the eircom Premier League title.
