THE Fine Gael party has increased speculation that the three Coalition leaders are holding out for an October general election by changing the date of its ardfheis from April to September next year.
The postponement is designed to offer the party "two significant events" in election year, according to its press officer, Mr Niall O'Muilleoir.
Fine Gael will commemorate the 75th anniversary of the signing of the Treaty, and the part that Cumann na nGaedheal played in it, at a date and venue yet to be decided in mid to late spring. Its ardfheis, planned and announced for April, has been moved to September, again at a date and venue to be decided.
