Northern Ireland voters are highly confident in the conduct of elections, survey analysis of this June’s European election has shown.
Findings published today by the North’s Electoral Commission show that 95 per cent of voters felt that help and support from staff at polling stations was good.
The research, conducted by ICM, also concluded there were no significant difficulties encountered by voters in meeting stringent identification requirements.
Some 5,600 people were added to the register using late registration procedures.
Séamus Magee, head of the Electoral Commission’s Northern Ireland office, said: “I’m pleased to see that voters continue to report high levels of confidence in the electoral system.”
He added: “The Electoral Commission is working with the chief electoral officer to ensure plans are in place for the next UK parliamentary election and that the interests of voters are again put first.”
