The North's public transport company Translink today signed an agreement with an independent bus company to operate new services within its network.

The landmark move marks the first formal involvement of a private operator within the public transport system in the province.

Chambers Coach Company will provide three services within the Translink network from October 2nd on the Goldenline Express routes - Belfast - Derry, Dublin and Omagh. Its services will be in addition to those provided by Translink.

More private involvement in the public transport sector can be expected to follow in the future.
