Security alerts today forced the closure of the main road and rail links between Northern Ireland and the Republic.
The main Newry to Dublin road has been sealed off following a bomb warning. The railway line has been closed all weekend because of a Real IRA dissident republican warning.
The alarm follows the firebombing of a number of Newry businesses earlier this week that caused serious damage to the areas economy.
Army technical officers were today called to a bridge between the Five Ways roundabout and the Forthill road near Newry. The road is expected to remain closed for much of the day.
