The national music development organisation, the Music Network, has announced the appointment of Mr John O'Kane (39) as chief executive.
Mr O'Kane was born in Belfast, where he took a degree in music at Queen's University before moving to Manchester for postgraduate study in cello. In his career as a performer he held positions in the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra, the Ulster Orchestra and the Irish Chamber Orchestra.
