The jury in the manslaughter trial of a Co Mayo farmer resumed deliberations this morning after being sent to a hotel for a second night.
After almost ten hours of deliberations, the foreman of the jury of eight men and four women told the Dublin Central Criminal Court yesterday evening that they had failed to reach a verdict.
At the start of yesterday's deliberations, trial judge Mr Justice Kevin Higgins told the jury it could return a majority verdict.

The court has heard that the accused beat Mr Ward 20 times with a stick and shot him twice with a single-barrel shotgun.
