For a second time a man accused of murdering his parents in Thurles, Co Tipperary, last month could not be in court for health reasons, a judge was told yesterday.

Mr Martin Doherty (25), of Grattan Place, St Lelia Street, Limerick, is charged with murdering Mr William Doherty (57), a retired garda, and his wife, Theresa (49), at their home in Monadreen, Thurles, on Monday, September 21st.

At Limerick City Court, Judge Michael Reilly was supplied with correspondence from the Central Mental Hospital in Dundrum where Mr Doherty is being held.

The court heard that Mr Doherty was an in-patient at the mental hospital and would be there for two weeks. The judge remanded him until November 5th.
