A 25-year-old Dublin man has pleaded not guilty to murder by reason of insanity at the Central Criminal Court.

Thomas Connors, of Manor Court, Harold’s Cross, pleaded not guilty by reason of insanity to murdering Michael Hughes (30) at Manor Villa Apartments on December 15th, 2007.

A jury has been sworn in to begin hearing the case tomorrow.

Mr Hughes, who was originally from Banagher, Co Offaly, was found dead in the hallway of Manor Villa flat complex after suffering multiple stab wounds.

Mr Hughes was in Dublin for a friend's engagement party and was returning to his cousin's apartment at the time of the attack. It is believed he was unable to get into his cousin's apartment and had fallen asleep in the corridor when the incident occurred.
