Munster have been handed a tough European Cup semi-final clash away to French side Castres.

It will be the third time the clubs have met this season.

Munster beat Castres 28-23 in the opening game of Pool 4 last September. The French side, however, gained revenge last month with a 21-13 victory at Stade Pierre-Antoine.

But controversy surrounded Castres' success in that game when their number eight Ismaela Lassissi was cited for allegedly biting Munster prop Peter Clohessy.

Lassissi received a 12-month ban but that was later quashed on appeal.

Leinster’s conquerors Leicester will host Llanelli in the other semi-final.

Leicester are bidding to become the first club in history to successfully defend the Heineken Cup.

Both semi-finals are scheduled to take place on the weekend of April 27th and 28th.

The final is at Cardiff's Millennium Stadium on May 25th, with current form suggesting that it could well be an Anglo-Irish showdown between Leicester and Munster.
