London - The motor racing mogul, Mr Bernie Ecclestone, came first place among Britain's 500 biggest earners for the second year running, according to the latest Sunday Times Pay List.

The newspaper estimated yesterday that Mr Ecclestone made £788 million in the year to October 1st, garnered from his 25 per cent stake in Formula One racing and from running individual races.

Last year Mr Ecclestone headed the list with £617 million. Once again, he was ahead of the second leading earner, the financier, Mr Martyn Arbib, who earned £123 million. Queen Elizabeth was ranked 24th with estimated earnings of £15.2 million.
