A mother of four has been charged with the murder of a 39-year-old Somalian man whose dismembered remains were found in the Royal Canal, Dublin, last March.
Linda Mulhall, with an address at Kilclare Gardens, Tallaght, Co Dublin, was arrested by gardaí at her home yesterday at 9.30am on foot of a warrant.
The 30-year-old was taken to Mountjoy Garda station where she was cautioned.
Det Insp Christy Mangan told Judge Miriam Malone at Dublin District Court that when the murder charge was formally put to Ms Mulhall at the station at 11.22am she replied: "No".
She is charged with the murder of Sheilila Salim, also known as Farah Swaleh Noor, on or about March 20th at Richmond Cottages, Ballybough.
Mr Salim had been living in Ireland since 1996.
The body of Mr Salim was found in the canal at Ballybough Bridge, close to Croke Park, on the evening of March 30th.
The remains were identified four months after his murder.
Ms Mulhall was remanded in custody to appear before the Dublin District Court again next Wednesday.
The court was told that Ms Mulhall is on medication. Judge Malone requested that she be medically examined and treated as appropriate.
The judge was also told that Ms Mulhall would be applying for free legal aid.
