GARDAI in Waterford have contacted police in Britain and Northern Ireland about a teenage girl who has been missing since last Wednesday.
Bridget Flynn (15) was last seen by her brother in the Ballybeg estate in Waterford town at around 8 p.m. on Wednesday. He saw her getting into a car, thought to be a blue Peugeot 405 with British or Northern Ireland number plates with three men. It is believed she knew at least one of the men.
She is described as 5ft 5in tall, with waist-length brown hair. When last seen she was wearing a brown polo neck jumper, blue jeans and black platform shoes. She had two gold chains, one with a T-bar, and a gold ring with a large red stone.
"Obviously the manner of her disappearance would concern us. We would just like to know that she is safe and well," a garda said. He said there had been no sightings and she had not been in touch with her family since her disappearance. Her family lives in the Kilbarry estate in Waterford town.
He appealed for anyone with information to contact Waterford Garda station on 051-874888 or any Garda station, in confidence.
Meanwhile, gardai in Dublin found a missing 13-year-old boy on Monday night. The boy had left the National Children's Hospital around lunchtime on Monday and was found in a church in Church Street in north Dublin shortly after 8 p.m.
He had been seen going into the church on his own, and a passing Garda car matched him to the description of the missing boy.
He told gardai he wanted to stay with his mother in Ireland rather than return to Scotland to foster parents. He said he had been wandering around Dublin and went into the church to sit down.
