A special needs boy who vanished from his east Belfast home more than a week ago has turned up safe and well.

Robert Guiney (12) had not been seen since going out to play on Monday, August 26th.

Despite relentless searches of the streets and parks near the Cregagh Road where they live, his family had found no clue to his whereabouts.

Robert suffers from attention deficiency hyperactivity disorder, which has left him dyslexic and unable to concentrate for long periods.

His disabilities had fuelled his mother Sharon's worry for her son's safety.

But a PSNI spokesman has confirmed the youngster has now returned home.
