Minister Martin announces new board for Fás

A new five-year board for Fás was announced today by Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment Micheál Martin.

With the exception of trade union representatives Des Geraghty and Owen Wills, all the board members are new appointments. The new union appointments are Sally Anne Kinahan from ICTU and Alice Prendergast, the former TUI president.

The chairman Peter McCloone, who is also Impact general secretary, will be joined by Danny McCoy, director of economic affairs with Ibec; Brian Keogh, director of health and safety director at John Sick and Son Ltd; Niall Saul from Irish Life; and Jenny Hayes as the Ibec representatives.

The four-person Government delegation includes Ruth Carmody, Department of Education; Tim Duggan, Department of Finance; Dermot Mulligan, Department of Enterprise, Trade and Employment; and Brian O'Raghallaigh from the Department of Social Affairs.

The Minister's appointment is Caroline Casey from the Aisling Foundation. James O'Leary, from NYCI is the youth representative, and Margaret Mernagh and Frank Walsh are the Fás employee representatives.
