Gardaí arrested two teenage men at Dublin Airport this morning after they were thrown off a Ryanair flight for refusing to sit down before take off, threatening they had a bomb and one of them urinating at the back of the plane as it taxied down the runway.

A spokesman for Ryanair said the two men were on a flight to Charleroi, Brussels, due to depart at 8.30am but as the aircraft was taxiing down the runway the men stood up and refused to sit down. The spokesman said one of the men then urinated at the back of the plane.

The flight crew informed the pilot who turned the aircraft back to the terminal.

"The passengers had been involved in shouting abuse, threatening passengers with a bomb, while another urinated on board."

Gardai met the plane when it returned to its stand and the men were removed from the flight and arrested under the Air Navigation and Transport Act. The men were taken to Dublin Airport Garda Station and later released.

A spokesman for the Garda Press Office said a file was being prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions.

The flight was delayed until 9.55am while cleaners cleaned the aircraft with passengers still on board.

Mrs White said more stringent security checks were needed at Dublin airport so passengers were not put at risk.

She said if stricter safety measures were in place Ryanair staff may not have had to deal with the incident in the first place.
