Nice - French police yesterday recovered two Impressionist masterpieces stolen from a museum in the Riviera city of Nice earlier this month.

The priceless works, Claude Monet's Cliffs at Dieppe and Alfred Sisley's Lane lined with poplars near Moret, were found in good condition on board a boat docked at the port of Saint Laurent du Var, near Nice. The paintings had been stolen from the Cheret Fine Arts Museum. Police are reported to have arrested several men including the curator of the museum where the paintings had been on show.
