`Coastal Shellfish - a Sustainable Resource" is the theme of an international four-day conference starting in Cork on September 29th. Sixty speakers will address the role of genetics in shellfish ranching and restoration, water quality and public health, artificial reefs and new species for fisheries and aquaculture. There will also be a session on harmful algal blooms jointly organised by the Marine Institute and NOAA of the US on October 2nd.
