Manchester United has picked its first retail partner in Japan

Manchester United has picked its first retail partner in Japan. The club said today it had appointed Japan Sports Vision (JSV) as its official Japanese retailer in a five-year deal.

The club said its merchandise would be available in JSV's 25 stores across Japan from the summer of 2002.

Japan, where Manchester United star David Beckham is something of a cult figure, is co-hosting soccer's World Cup next year with South Korea.
