A man appeared in Derry Magistrates' Court yesterday charged in connection with street disturbances in the city last month when a police officer fired shots into the air during the Apprentice Boys parade. Mr John James Friel (26), of Glencaw Park, Derry, was charged with causing grievous bodily harm to a police constable with intent and with riotous behaviour. He was remanded in custody for two weeks.
