A man was remanded in custody on Saturday on a charge of conspiring to murder members of the security forces in an IRA rocket attack outside the Royal Courts of Justice in Belfast last Monday.

Mr Brendan Hugh McIlvenny (27), unemployed, from Upper Stanfield Street, Belfast, smiled when he appeared in the dock of the city's Magistrates Court.

A detective told the magistrate, Mr Paul Copeland, that Mr McIlvenny had not made any written or verbal admissions and added: "There is video photographic evidence of identification and circumstantial evidence."

Mr McIlvenny's solicitor, Mr Kieran Steele, told the court his client would be pleading not guilty to the charge.
