A man has been arrested tonight by gardaí investigating a gun murder which occurred in Co Louth more than a year ago.
Seamus McMahon (41) was shot dead on March 21st of last year in a property at Bothar Croinn, Dundalk.
McMahon died over what was believed to be a personal matter but his death was at the time linked to dissident activity. He was previously charged with being a member of the IRA although he was later acquitted at the Special Criminal Court.
Gardaí believe a three man gang armed with at least one handgun observed his movements prior to killing him.
A 39-year-old man was arrested today in connection with his murder.
He is the second person to be arrested in connection with the investigation.
A woman (32) was arrested on June 7th last and was subsequently released. A file is being prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions.
