Man held after shots fired in Wicklow

A number of shots were fired and a 30-year-old man was arrested during an ongoing Garda investigation into organised crime.

A number of shots were fired and a 30-year-old man was arrested during an ongoing Garda investigation into organised crime.

The man was arrested after members of the Garda Organised Crime Unit stopped a car in Ballymore Eustace, Co Wicklow yesterday.

A second car which failed to stop left the scene and during the course of the operation, gardaí fired a number of shots.

A firearm and a quantity of cash were recovered.

The man is currently being held at Naas Garda station under Section 30 Offences Against the State Act.
