Man due in court over Belfast weapons find

A man has been charged with possession of explosives, firearms and ammunition with intent to endanger life.

A man has been charged with possession of explosives, firearms and ammunition with intent to endanger life.

The charges relate to the discovery of arms by police at a house at Carlisle Road in north Belfast on Saturday. The man is expected to appear at Belfast Magistrates Court this morning.

A senior police officer linked the find to the republican Irish National Liberation Army (INLA).

The find included four primed pipe bombs, an anti-personnel mine containing high explosives, two detonators, a sub-machine gun, a single-barrelled shotgun and a large amount of ammunition.
