A Dublin man has admitted killing another man in Mountjoy Prison two years ago
Alan Smith (34) of Ballybough House, Ballybough Road in Dublin 3 pleaded not guilty to murdering David Byrne on July 3rd, 2009 but guilty to a charge of manslaughter.
The Central Criminal Court was told the plea was acceptable to the State and the accused was remanded in custody for sentencing on December 19th.
Byrne (26) from Sheriff Street died after he was beaten over the head with a sock stuffed with batteries.
