A 77 year old Offaly man was returned for trial yesterday charged with rape and sexual assault on a teenage boy. Tullamore District Court was told the defendant faces 13 charges of rape and sexual assault on the boy between 1990 and 1993 at a named location.
Defending solicitor Mr Donal Farrelly told the judge the defendant was very deaf. Releasing the man on his own bail of £100, Judge Aidan O'Donnell sent him forward for trial to the Central Criminal Court in Dublin.
