It is the second time this year that the prize fund has hit these heights and the National Lottery says up to 2,000 people will be playing every minute at peak time this afternoon.

The largest jackpot so far this year was €14.5 million on March 12th, the second largest prize fund since the game began.  It was won by a Co Kildare syndicate of two.

The largest Lotto jackpot to date was in July 2007, when the winning players shared €16,185,749.

The largest individual winner of a Lotto jackpot scooped €7,892,753 in May 1997.
