The murder trial of a Limerick man accused of shooting his wife's lover was further delayed in the Central Criminal Court yesterday following the completion of extended legal argument.

The trial is expected to resume tomorrow before the jury of nine men and three women.

Mr Patrick Brennan (54), of St Ida's Street, St Mary's Park, Limerick, denies the murder of Mr Sean Colbert (53), a father of eight, of Lenihan Avenue, Prospect, Limerick, who was killed outside his home on August 9th, 1996. Previously the court heard that it was the State's case that the "deceased had been engaging in a long-standing affair with the accused's wife" prior to the killing.
