English First Division outfit Leicester City today won the right to sack Dennis Wise over an incident which left his team-mate Callum Davidson with a fractured cheekbone.

A Football League disciplinary committee ruled in Leicester's favour this afternoon.

In August, Leicester terminated former Wimbledon, Chelsea and England midfielder Wise's contract.

But they were told to re-instate the 35-year-old after he successfully apealed to the league.

To Leicester's horror League bosses ruled that a fine of two weeks' wages was the maximum fine the former Premiership club could impose on the player.

However, having won the appeal it seems certain that Leicester, currently second in the First Division, will sell Wise at the earliest opportunity.
