Mr Padraig McCartan SC, for Sgt Colm Cullinan (41), told the court his client's job at Baldonnel was procuring and supplying parts for aircraft. Mr Nicholas Fitzpatrick was a director of Artron, supplier of aircraft parts.

Sgt Cullinan had alleged that on June, 16th 1992, Mr Fitzpatrick told a flight sergeant that he had a problem with Sgt Cullinan and that Sgt Cullinan was on a "backhander" from West Coast Aviation, a supplier at Shannon.

It was also alleged that Mr Fitzpatrick had said to the flight sergeant that he would speak to Sgt Cullinan's bosses and have him moved and his senior officer, Cmdt Croke, would not be unhappy if he were moved.
