In a statement today, the company said the decision was made following a quarterly review of the London Stock Exchange's FTSE UK Index Series, and would be effective from September 20th 2010.

Managing director Michael Carvill welcomed the move.

“This is testament to all the hard work of everyone in the company,” he said. “We believe that entering the FTSE 250 will broaden the range of potential investors.”

In its half-year results published last month, revenues at Kenmare Resources rose to more than $40 million (€31.48 million), with production and sales both showing a significant rise.
