Juventus won the 27th Serie A championship of their history today although a 2-2 draw with Perugia was not the perfect way to celebrate.
Fabio Grosso's last-gasp equaliser for Perugia left Juve waiting for the result at the San Siro but Inter Milan's 1-1 draw with Parma ensured the Turin club prevailed with two matches to spare.
The party began when Frenchman David Trezeguet put Juventus ahead after 23 minutes, netting from the penalty spot at the Stadio Delle Alpi.
However, 11 minutes later parity was restored when Perugia's Fabrizio Miccoli finished off a fine move in style as the Umbrians drew level ahead of the interval.
Early in the second period Marco Di Vaio struck to give Juventus the lead only for Grosso's late reply to leave the celebrations on ice.
Marcello Lippi and his players remained on the pitch until the news of the final score in Milan allowed the celebrations to begin in earnest.
