The jury in the trial of two Leeds United footballers accused of taking part in a street attack was sent home today without returning any verdicts after a second day of deliberations.
England international defender Jonathan Woodgate, England under-21 international midfielder Lee Bowyer and two of Woodgate's friends deny causing grievous bodily harm with intent to Sarfraz Najeib. The four defendants also deny affray.
Najeib, 21, suffered serious injuries including a broken leg and a bite mark to his right cheek in an attack in the Mill Hill district of central Leeds, in January last year.
The prosecution has claimed that Woodgate, 21, Bowyer, 24, and Clifford and Caveney, both 22, all took part in the attack on university student Najeib.
The jury will return to Hull Crown Court to resume their deliberations on Wednesday.
