Britain's Trish Johnson had a disappointing finish, but still set the pace with a one under par 71 in today's opening round of the Women's Irish Professional Open over the Lackabane course at Killarney.
In cool and blustery conditions in Co Kerry, Denmark's Iben Tinning also fired one under, and the pair led by a shot from France's Leudivine Kreutz, who missed the cut in her comeback from injury at last week's Tenerife Open, but her form returned with a round of three birdies.
But she was disappointed to drop two shots in the last four holes, including a three-putt at the 18th.
"I'm not too chuffed with the way I finished and really I could have six or seven under," she said.
New Zealand's Gina Scott was heading for the lead when she covered the first 15 holes in four under. The Kiwi won her only title on Tour, the Kronenbourg Classic at Chart Hills in England, in her rookie 2000 season.
