Over 2,000 supervisors on Community Employment schemes throughout the country may receive significant increases in pay following a decision by the Minister for Enterprise and Employment, Mr Bruton, to review FAS grants for the schemes, writes Padraig Yeates. This follows a meeting with the public service union, Impact.
Bruton met an Impact delegation yesterday and said he would look at the funding arrangements. However, a spokesman for the Minister pointed out that Mr Bruton had no direct role in the industrial relations aspect of the CE schemes. This was a matter for FAS and the sponsors of the schemes.
Rates of pay have not changed for supervisors since the CE schemes were introduced in April 1994.
