Suspected Palestinian gunmen shot and killed an Israeli youth today in a drive-by attack near the neighbouring West Bank settlements of Givat Zeev and Givon, an Israeli security source said.

Shots were fired from a truck at children in a playing field in Givon, where apparently no one was hurt. Then the truck drove on and (the assailants) shot at a car and killed one person, the security source said.

The youth was critically wounded and attempts to revive him failed, according to medical workers. Israel Radio said the youth was 14 years old.

More than 600 people have been killed since the start of a Palestinian uprising against Israeli occupation in the West Bank and Gaza Strip, including nearly 500 Palestinians and over 100 Israelis.
