Israeli warplanes flew over the length of Lebanon today, breaking the sound barrier several times, police said.
Flying at high altitude, they caused supersonic bangs over Tripoli in the north, Tyre in the south and the border area around the disputed Shebaa Farms.
Israeli planes had violated southern Lebanese airspace yesterday, coming under fire from Hezbollah guerrillas.
Such overflights are frequent, ignoring UN rulings that they are violations of the "blue line", the official border the United Nations drew between the two countries after Israel ended its 22-year occupation of south Lebanon in May 2000.
