Irish man's body recovered in UK

A fisherman whose body was recovered from a Scottish harbour after he disappeared on Christmas Day was today named by police.

A fisherman whose body was recovered from a Scottish harbour after he disappeared on Christmas Day was today named by police.

Philip Toland (34) from Co Donegal was last seen near the pier in Ullapool harbour in the early hours of December 25th, police said.

The alarm was raised that evening and police, coastguard and the RNLI carried out “extensive searches”.

His body was recovered from the harbour yesterday after the search resumed with the assistance of Grampian Police dive team.

Police said that his family have been informed and investigations into the circumstances are continuing.
