The seasonally adjusted volume of Irish industrial production for manufacturing industries from December 2002 to February 2003 fell 0.8 per cent on the preceding three months.

Despite the small fall for the quarter, production in February was 12.3 per cent higher than in February 2002.

Industrial turnover for manufacturing industries was down 7.5 per cent in the three-month period December 2002 to February 2003, when compared with the preceding three month period.

Turnover in February 2003 was 2.4 per cent lower than in February 2002.

The "Modern" sector, comprising a number of high-technology and chemical sectors, showed an annual increase in production for February 2003 of 15 per cent, whereas an increase of 3.4 per cent was recorded in the "Traditional" sectors.
