Irish bioenergy technology firm Bedminster International has signed a $4 million (€2.7 million) contract with Samsung Heavy Industries in Korea and South East Asia, it was announced today.

The Enterprise Ireland client company, which provides bioenergy technology and related engineering services, signed the agreement in Dublin this morning.

Bedminster International chairman Bill McCabe said the company had faced strong international competition.

"This sgreement represents the beginning of an exceptional opportunity for both companies in deploying proven biological treatment within the vast waste sector," he said.

"The decision of Samsung Heavy Industries to select our BioEnergy Technology is particularly good news for Bedminster. It will ensure significant company growth over the coming years"

He said the company would look to develop new markets, including the Middle East and South America.
