No foul play suspected in Limerick house fire death

Body of wWoman (90s) found after firemen quench blaze at O’Curry Street on Friday

Gardaí said they do not suspect foul play after the body of an elderly woman was discovered following a fire at a house in Limerick on Friday.

The woman, understood to be in her 90s, was found after firemen quenched the blaze at O’Curry Street, shortly before 9pm last night.

A spokesperson for Limerick City Fire and Rescue said they received an emergency call to the house at 8.06pm.

Three fire tenders attended the scene and the blaze was extinguished within an hour.

The woman’s body was discovered and taken out of the house by fire officers. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

A postmortem is expected to be carried out at University Hospital Limerick.
