HER SURRENDER: A painting by Leitrim artist Sinead Guckian entitled Her Surrender is unveiled at Dáil Éireann. It depicts the moment when Padraig Pearse surrenders to British forces (on right) after the 1916 Rising in Dublin. Nurse Elizabeth O'Farrell, on the left in the painting beside Pearse, has often been partially airbrushed out of the historic moment in photographs. ST PATRICK...VIRTUALLY: A video showcasing Killarney's history has been produced as part of this year's virtual St Patrick's Festival in the town, chronicling the area's monasticism and ecclesiastical heritage. The video is the work of award-winning Killarney photographer Valerie O'Sullivan with voiceover by Breda O'Farrell, lighting and effects by Kieran Somers, and a special appearance by Killarney National Park and wildlife ranger Sean Forde.
