The incident is believed to have occurred in the VIP section of the large nightclub.

The two men involved in the incident were arrested at the nightclub and taken to Coolock Garda station. It is thought staff at the nightclub may have witnessed or been alerted to the incident and notified the gardaí.

A Garda spokesman said: “Gardaí in Swords are investigating a report of an alleged sexual assault on a female at a nightclub in the Swords area in the early hours of the 29/07/17."

“Gardai arrested two males and detained them at Coolock Garda station. They were later released without charge and a file will be prepared for the DPP,” the spokesman said.

The two suspects in the case are from Navan, in Co Meath, and were released without charge early on Sunday morning.

The file being prepared by gardaí will be brought to the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) where a decision will be made on whether or not to charge the two men and prosecute the case in the courts.
