Ireland are considering citing Argentina hooker Mario Ledesma following an incident which ruled second row Gary Longwell out of action until Christmas.

Ledesma seemed to slide into the Ulster lock as he lay on the ground in the 26th minute of Ireland's victory at Lansdowne Road yesterday.

Longwell was taken to hospital for x-rays which revealed no broken bones but an Irish Rugby Football Union spokesman said today: "It's a soft tissue injury, suspected nerve bruising to his shoulder and neck.

"He wasn't kept in hospital and actually made it back for the post-match dinner wearing a sling but he could be out until Christmas, for four weeks.
