London - The Commission for Racial Equality has launched a formal inquiry into racism within the Crown Prosecution Service, it announced last night.

The investigation, which will start in January, follows increasing frustration by the CRE that the CPS has not acted with sufficient urgency to address institutional racism within its structure. The news was confirmed by CRE staff, after being revealed on Channel 4 News.
