Customs and PSNI officers last night uncovered an illegal fuel store during a raid on premises in Co. Fermanagh.
In separate operations yesterday, over 200,000 duty free cigarettes were seized at Belfast International Airport.
A joint Customs / PSNI operation discovered the fuel store last night during a planned search of remote farm buildings on the outskirts of Kinawley. Early indications are that the site was an unofficial storage facility for illegal fuel.
Following the discovery, Customs officers seized 7,000 litres of petrol and 1,000 litres of diesel from the site. Customs investigations into the illegal operation are ongoing.
In other operations Customs officers seized over 230,000 smuggled cigarettes at Belfast International Airport, a haul valued at 50,000.
The contraband was detected as Customs officers blitzed flights arriving overnight from Las Palmas, Gran Canaria and an early morning flight from Turkey.
Customs believe that almost 9,000 packets of cigarettes discovered in the airport baggage reclaim area were abandoned by a group of four individuals when they realised that Customs were carrying out a full search of all passengers' baggage.
