The two Irishmen who drowned while on a trip to Morocco have been named this evening.
Niall Sheridan, (52), from Athboy, Co Meath, and his colleague Joseph Bartley (25), from Navan, Co Meath had been attending an insurance conference in the western city of Agadir.
The men were employees of Galway-based Acorn Life Insurance and worked in an office in Moynalty, Co Meath. They were part of a group of about 150 employees who were attending the conference.
In a statement the company said: "We have been reliably informed of the tragic drowning at Agadir in Morocco of two of our sales associates."
"These two men, both from County Meath, were part of a group participating in a sales convention organised by Acorn Life."
"Our management are endeavouring to discover more details and are in touch with the police in Agadirand also at home in Ireland."
"At this very sad time, our thought and prayers are with the men's families but we are not able to give any further details until all the members of the family have been informed."
