A man sought by detectives in Northern Ireland after the murder of his wife took his own life by jumping in front of a train, police confirmed tonight.
The Police Service of Northern Ireland said the body of a man found lying on the railway line outside Larne in Co Antrim has been identified as John Armstrong.
Murder squad detectives had been looking to speak to Mr Armstrong since yesterday morning when the body of his wife, Cathy (37), was discovered at Recreation Road in Larne.
Mrs Armstrong was found with chest wounds, possibly caused by a stabbing.
Officers spent yesterday trying to locate her husband and the family car a blue Vauxhall Corsa.
Detectives stressed that the murder inquiry was still ongoing and it was not established that Mr Armstrong had any involvement in his wife's murder.
