THE board room in Brown Thomas was the hottest place to be this week - not because of the crowd that gathered there on Tuesday evening to celebrate the launch of the video of the Kenny Live/ Brown Thomas Showcase of Irish Fashion but because the air conditioning simply couldn't cope with the temperature.

Most of the people involved in the mammoth show turned up with the exception of the supermodels - as did people from the charities who benefited including Adi Roche and AIi Hewson. Apart from the charities the fashion people involved definitely did well from it. Someone who also benefited from the show was Irish designer Mary Gregory - someone sent a video of the show to Libertys in London and on the strength of it they've ordered in her new collection.

Star of the party was a very energetic Alexei, who was celebrating his first birthday - he was brought here - in January from Chernobyl by Adi and RTE producer Kieran Fitzgerald and was subsequently fostered by Adi's sister Helen Barrett and her husband Chris.
